Mary McKee
My Grandmother
Was the daughter of John McKee and Margaret McLean. She was born in Gortgole, Portglenone Antrim Ireland on August 3, 1871.
Mary McKee left her home in Antrim at the age of 13 and went to Stockton England to work as a governess and cook.
She then immigrated, at age 21, to Philadelphia PA, on June 4, 1893, on the ship "Ohio" from Liverpool England.
On her ship manifest she listed Stockton England as her previous place of residence. And to our great surprise, she listed an Aunt Delia McKee as her contact in Philadelphia!
This was an amazing revelation, as we previously had no knowledge that there were any McKee family members in Philadelphia prior to my grandmother's arrival.

John McKee
My Great Grandfather
John McKee, son of Owen McKee, was born in 1845 in Gortgole, Portglenone, Ballymena Antrim.
He married Margaret McLean, daughter of Hector McLean, in Gortgole, Portglenone Antrim on Oct. 11, 1868
and had the following known children:
